Caricature - Procreate in a comic style
Project: a caricature drawn on an iPad in Procreate, with strong linework, comic energy and print-ready files.
Idea
The Procreate caricature had to read fast: strong linework, exaggerated proportions and an expression that carries humour straight away. This was not meant to be a realistic portrait, but a drawing with comic energy.
In this style it is easy to push distortion too far. The task was to keep the likeness while turning up facial traits enough for the whole piece to feel light, not unkind.
Execution
I built the sketch around the most recognisable facial traits, then drew strong outlines in Procreate. The linework comes first because it gives the caricature its pace and character.
Colour and shadows were added to support the form without overpowering the drawing. The result is a digital caricature ready for print, online publishing or use as a gift.
