Digital caricature for a mug and poster
Project: a digital caricature for a birthday gift, with travel, fashion and sport motifs, prepared for a mug and poster.
Idea
The digital caricature was meant as a birthday gift for a person who enjoys travel, fashion and sport. The client wanted those interests to be visible in the drawing, but not as a random list of props.
The format added another constraint. The same illustration had to look good on a poster and on a mug, so the composition needed to be strong, readable and easy to transfer onto two different media.
Execution
I designed the character with details connected to the recipient's interests. The supporting elements guide the eye around the main figure without taking over the composition.
I prepared the final digital drawing for print and mug printing. This made it possible to create a consistent gift set from one project, without rebuilding the artwork for each format.
