The goal was to create two satirical drawings that quickly convey the punchline. The works were to be ready for print and online publication.

Idea

The satirical drawings had to work quickly: the viewer looks, gets the point and only then notices the details. The project included two digital pieces intended for print and online publishing.

With satire, it is easy to over-explain. If the drawing explains the joke too directly, it loses its edge. If it is too sparse, the viewer may miss the intention.

Execution

I created two drawings digitally in Photoshop. The compositions were simplified so the main message could be understood without a caption or extra explanation.

I prepared the finished files for print and online use. This lets the drawings work as posters, publication graphics or material that carries the punchline quickly.
